In light of the pandemic, some parole boards and prosecutor have released elderly inmates and those who have been convicted of low-level offenses to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Drs. Daftary-Kapur and Zottoli argue in an op-ed by the Philadelphia Inquirer that juvenile lifers should also be considered for early release due to the low risk they pose to public safety.
