Another great panel discussion on Wrongful Convictions, sponsored by the MSU Psychology Department and the Deskovic Foundation for Justice, was held at MSU on May 2. Guests were Tarika Daftary-Kapur, Ph.D., Frank Vetro, Lorenzo Johnson and Jeffrey Deskovic. More than 90% of criminal convictions in the United States are resolved by guilty plea, and the process can be coercive for some defendants and base rates of false guilty pleas may exceed 30% in some populations.
