May 2 Wrongful Conviction Panel Discussion on False Guilty Pleas

Another great panel discussion on Wrongful Convictions, sponsored by the MSU Psychology Department and the Deskovic Foundation for Justice, was held at MSU on May 2. Guests were Tarika Daftary-Kapur, Ph.D., Frank Vetro, Lorenzo Johnson and Jeffrey Deskovic. More than 90% of criminal convictions in the United States are resolved by guilty plea, and the process can be coercive for some defendants and base rates of false guilty pleas may exceed 30% in some populations.
